Hi People,
Lori mentioned to me in meeting that the above book was one she forgot to share with the group, as a source that you may find valuable and relative to your practice. Hollander actually teaches the reader how to see through peoples clothing. just kidding
In all seriousness, Hollander's position pertaining to drapery, costume and dress is that the 'clothed body' is actually the naked body as it relates directly to a particular culture's ideals, fears and fetishes. Perhaps the only constant being, "The more significant clothing is, the more meaning attaches to its absence, and the more awareness is generated about any relation between the two states [of dress and undress] (p83)."
I checked this book out, but you can borrow it off my bench if you leave me a note saying when you will return it- if you can't find it for some reason or another, please text me.
